Getting beats onto CD

Can someone please help me with this shit. First off how the **** do I burn my beats onto the CDRW drive on the MPC4000. The manual doesnt tell u how to do it and when I push save that option doesnt come up only to save to the MPC4K HD. Secondly when I do that and I turn my MPC off and load the beat back in it has no sound the bars for output are moving but all the samples I used are gone and in Part 1 it just says Program 1 and all other parts are blank. Do I need to make a seperate program for each part or what? Im so **** confused its rediculous and I have spent so many hours working on beats with no results.

I haven't got my 4000 yet, but I know for a fact that you can't burn songs on the CDRW yet, or maybe ever. It's rumored to come in an upcoming OS update, but they have been saying that since the thing first came out. Probably your best and only bet is to transfer your beats to your computer as wavs and then burn them off your computer cd burner or track it into a DAW or something. Can't help you on your other problem, but I'm sure someone here will.

you have to save your samples too dummy . when you save a program, choose: with samples

you can burn a wav file from your entire song to cdw and cdrw. first bounce, then save the bounced sample.

a multi contains programs. a program contains samples

you should read the manual tho @ akaipro.com (download the reference manual, its about 5mb)
its a piece of sh*t (the manual, that is.. ) but those things you want are explained in the ref manual

When you are in the SAVE menu press UTILITY (F2) then turn the JOG WHEEL to MEMORY TO CD.

Also, if you have enough memory, you could solo each track, bounce those down, and save each individual track as a wav, THEN burn it to CD....then you almost a DAW ready multracked beat, ready to go!

To get everything on time, I made a "metronome sequence", and I go into song mode and place that as the 1st seqence (1-bar count in). That way everything lines up whenyou drag/drop it into Pro Tools, Cubase, etc.

So you can burn your songs on the 4000 cdrw directly?! Mine comes in tomorrow!

You just gotta be smarter than the MPC......You're actually better of taking the solo wav and dumping it off on your comp via ak.Sys, depending if you MPC mem is upgraded and how much mempry your programs and samples are taking up at that moment. Then you can burn it off the computer.

Or, in the RECORD screen pick MAIN OUT and record the whole beat as a wav file. You take that wav file and transfer it to your computer via Ak Sys (right click save to computer). Now that you have a wav file on your computer, you can burn it onto a CD. If you need to convert it to an MP3 first then do so...but it's that easy.

Knox, can you explain this in better detail? Bouncing to WAV (I assume you mean solo then resample outs in the record screen, but I could be wrong) and your "metronome sequence". Although I have the ADAT out option I am still interested in hearing how you do this yourself. Sounds dope.

Yeah, for a ruff mix or something to hear. I'm talking about industry standard, everything on it's own track outputting. And you don't need to change the WAV to an MP3 to burn it to CD....you just degrade the sound quality that way.

Yeah, you have the MPC 4k sample it's main out. As for the metronome sequence, I just made a 1-bar, 16-track sequence (overkill, I know.....I'm just anal like that) of a basic snare on the 1-2-3-4 count. Then, adjust it's tempo to whatever the tempo of the main sequence is. Then, in song mode, place it ahead of your main sequence then as you solo them out, they all have that 1-bar snare count off in the front.....transfer them to your comp as you go (or MPC Hard Disk) and there you go!

If you REALLY wanna be slick, you don't even have to let them play for 3-5 minutes each. Just catch you like 6 bars or so, then stop. Once you finally line all of your waves up in Cubase or whatever, lock in the tempo and set your markers from the end of the count in to the end of the 4th bar. Highlight them all, chop the excess, then copy/paste them out. If you do this right, you beat will loop correctly and in time ad infinitum!
