I really fancy a 4000, but why did they change the colour? The white / black looks sweet, the blue looks cheep and nasty :-(

Dunno. Prolly just a "look-at-us-as-we-make-a-fresh-start"-thingie. Haven't seen a blue one irl but I don't think it is as nice as the old black'n'white. 8)

AKAI - there is only ONE colour scheme for stock MPC's... cream/white, red highlites, dark pads. Don't mess with a winning formula. And do the 1000 in the trad scheme as well. THX!!

:P

If they wanted to say that, they could have made them come stock with 8 outputs or some other value added thing. The blue looks crap.

I personally like the new blue one's better, even though I have a white one. Haven't seen one yet either, even on ebay.

... and the blue was $0.95 cheaper!

Watch this, after slagging off the blue 4000, I bet I end up getting one! Is there anything else different about them?

There's nothing "cheap" or "nasty" about an MPC 4000, no matter what color it comes in. I had a woman at Guitar Center tell me that the 4000 only came in white, while i was waiting for mine to be delivered. She kept calling me to assure me that the blue color was only for the MPC 1000's. When my MPC 4000 finally came, i called her back to ask her if she'd seen a blue one yet and she insisted that i had the machines mixed up. Till this day, that has to be the funniest discussion i'd ever had about the 4000.

The pictures of the blue models don't say anything close to what the actual sight of one in front of you does. For those who've never seen one, please lay off the bad mouthing until to you do see one....you'll end up eating your words. There's no difference between the 2 models function-wise, it's only color, drive space, I/O, RAM and CD-ROM read/write/rewrite speeds. We all love our machines the same.
