Help: MPC4000 crashes when loading from hdd!

When loading programs or samples from a hard drive the MPC starts loading, displaying the "loading file" progress bar. After a few seconds there is no more progress, and the little lady in the corner keeps telling me to "please wait"... The "abort" button (F1) has no effect. In fact the only thing to do is to turn MPC off. The problem occurs every time I load a program and whenever I load more than a few individual samples.
Please help!

what is the longest period of time you have waited??? it also ccould be a cetain file. it might be best to hit abort when you first turn the mpc on and load each program file one at a time until you find the currupt file if there is one at all

I have waited maybe 5 minutes. Some further investigation shows that there seems to be be a problem with specific sample files. Programs which contains those samles wont load. I copied the apparently corrupt samples to my computer via usb/ak.sys and they seem to work fine on the computer. Still when i renamed a "corrupt" file and copied it back on MPC4K it wouldn't load.
Is it possible that about a third of a total of roughly 200 samples can be corrupted at the same time, and still work fine on a computer? The HDD came from a windows PC and there was never any problems with it...
btw I'm running OS 1.71

Yes, it is possible that the mpc4k crashes on a sample, while your computer accepts it. Of course the mpc should not crash, but the code that interprets the sample on the mpc and your computer simply handle things differently.

Maybe you could place a short version of one of these corrupt files somewhere on the web and send a message to [email protected], with a link to the file.
