Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
By drumtrack Wed Jun 08, 2005 11:49 pm
I load up a song and everything is messed up! Sequences are gone, tones are not the way the were and some other shit.
Can someone explain why my MPC does this? Its really weird

Sequence 1 & 2 are still somewhat "intact" .... the rest just disappeared
My song plays seq 1 and seq 2 and then it plays the rest: "unused"
What the **** is wrong??

By the way, where is the new OS? Im starting to scratch the surface of my head more and more with 1.7

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the world he didnt exist and like that, he disappeared  .... not funny
there is a demon inside my em pee see

I've had some nasty crashes with OS v1.7x. Afaik, AkaiPro is working on a fix for the bugs we reported. Go back to v1.60 if you want a stable OS.

Ok Thanks.
I have tried going back to OS 1.6 but then when I load songs that were made with 1.7, stuff like locating events dont work the way they should work. For example if I want to locate the next event (locate + next event), the cursor goes to the end of the sequence and not to the next note.. So switching back to a previous OS is no option.
I hope 2.0 will be there soon.

I wouldn't be waiting for 2.0 for too long, as it should be a while. I purchased
the MPC 4000 when the day that OS 1.6 came out. Seems like I've had the machine for quite some time now.

I have bought mine when OS 1.51 was the latest. I upgraded everytime a new OS was there and stability went downhill. The newer the OS, the less I could trust it..
I always thought it was the other way around
Anyway, in my opinion, 1.51 was a good OS. The rest is really shitty.

People say Akai will fix evrything in OS 2.0... at least thats what they did with their other rack samplers.. S5000 for example. So lets hope its the same with the 4000

bought mine with ver 1.45, and i'm still using it. it's pretty stable. I've crashed a few times over the last 2.5 years. I'm okay with it, but what am I missing?

Sorry you lost ish, know what it feels like.

you are missing auditioning from HD,
recording to ram,
entering the time correction window with the press of two buttons simultaniously

That I cant miss
I bought the MPC knowing there would be an update that you can audition samples from HD. If akai hadnt implemented that feature, i had never bought the unit

is OS 2.0 an urban legend or really planned ?

I mean aren't they gonna do a minor update like 1.80 or 1.72 to fix these nasty bugs ?

Btw, this phrase comes from The Usual Suspects. Kevin Spacey aka Keizer Soze says this.
Great movie!
Wooopzz I just gave away the plot

1.71 is even worse. Sometimes in 1.71 I work on a sequence and after putting the sequence in the song, the sequence becomes blank: unused
Also when switching from sequence to song, the cursor lies... it says to my eyes that it is on place X but actualy its on the place below that

Dear Abby, you know what's tight? Posting things twice in a row and then not going back and editing them.
