www.samplecraze.com there are some good tutorials on sampling, synthesis, compresiion, etc. i would buy the Conquering EQ, and Drum layering e-book also. Another thing to consider is that you can filter and have your drum sound with artifacts left like lampdog said, and you may still be able to use it. Sometimes those artifacts may stand out and actually sound good in the mix by filling in some dead spots, or sometimes they may even get masked by other instruments, and you may not hear them, or maybe very very low. Those artifacts might even thicken up another sound for you (layering), or ruin it. It all depends how things blend.
