Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

I want to remix a track with the 4k that was started in Protools, where I have all the vocal breakouts ect... Should the transport control master be Protools or MPC? If protools is the master, can I set the MPC into the record function via Protools?

If the MPC controls ProTools how do I start my sequences in the correct bar/beat locations? Part of the reason this is confusing is because PT runs Linear and I am used to programing short sequences on the 4k. How do I deal with the timing situation?
:?:  :!:

listen to the original song...count the bars for each verse/hook/bridge/etc...
then set the bars and such on the mp accordingly...

,,,make sure you get the tempo and stuff rite

and btw...one bar = four counts
ie.: 1,2,3,4 ONE 1,2,3,4 TWO 1,2,3,4 THREE 1,2,3,4 FOUR

feel me?

thanx I got you on that
I'm straight with tempo matching and all that. My question is how can I run MPC and PT together effectively and who should be the Master sync, Master transport, ect.. during a PT/MPC remix. hopefully this clears things up.
I want to know how you guys have doing this type of remix work.

Thanx Haze, I understand how to sync everything up. I apologize for not making myself clear.
My question is specificaly about Remixing a Protools track with the MPC 4000.
Namely Protools works in a linear format and the MPC sequences in loop mode.
So what if I want to build a sequence to compliment the chorus at bar 20, if the MPC is the master is there a way to start a new 4 bar sequence(bar count 1-4) and still trigger Protools to start at bar 20? How do you accomplish this? Or do I have to make a sequence that is 24 bars long and then just loop 20-24 on the MPC?
As a technique do you guys build the remix track on the MPC from the begining of beat one to the end of the song? The reason I ask is because normally I build a few different sequences and then chain them together in song mode. I would like to do this while monitoring the vocals-scratches-ect.. in sync with the current Sequence I am building for that particular part of the session(i.e. choruse, verse, bridge..) So can I make one sequence at a time and build many different sequences rather than just one huge sequence?
Then that brings me to setup, which is what I meant by "how do I set it all up?"
