Zip disk will not eject while 400 is on?

Zip disk will not eject while 4000 is on? When I turn off my MPC 4000 I then can eject my zip disk. This presents a problem for me because I have all my programs on one disk and zips on another. Can anyone help. Thanks, Dean

Are you using a USB Zip Drive or an Internal IDE one. I have an Iomga Zip 100 USB (very cheap to pickup) and the discs eject just fine.

I'm using a Iomega 250 zip. It is the same one I used when I had my 2000. I don't think the zip drive is malfunctioning because as soon as I turn off my 4000 I can then eject my zip disk. I can load, save, and read things fine with the zip drive as I once did with the Mpc 2000.

So it's an internal drive then - hmm. Do akai mention using an internal IDE Zip Drive in the manual anywhere, I can't remember if they do. Even so, this doesn't really help your situation much does it...

Which OS are you running, if you're up to 1.45 then me thinks you need to pester akai for this feature in the next OS.

Are you trying to eject using the eject-button on the Zip-drive, or from within the "Load" menu of the MPC4000? Both the S5000 and 6000 behave in this way: once they're on, the only way to eject CDs, Zips or whatever, is to use the "eject" function from within the load/save menus. Strange behaviour indeed, but I vaguely recall some Akai rep. giving an explanation for this on the Midicase mailinglist some years ago.

No problem, I remember cursing over this oddity on my old S5000. Took me a while to figure out why I couldn't eject my sample CDs... I'd be lost without mailinglists and forums like this...

I have always had to use the "Eject" function from the load page even with my internal CDRW. I guess when the MPC4k scans the bus it takes priority and wont let go. Peace
