Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Dear all
I am a new akai user  (mpc 4k) and new to this list!
I bought my akai with 40 GB of harddisk and without cd rw cause I thought I won’t need it!
Meanwhile I got plenty samples (most of them S-1000 format) on cd and I can’t bring them correctly to my harddisk! :(
I have tried translator free and Cdxtract 4 to bring them from my pc (operating on shity windows me) to my mpc harddisk!
Both of the softwares didn’t bring the samples correctly to the disk. Using Translator free just one program per volume has been translated (while on cd there were initially 6-7 programs per volume), Cdxtract did translate all programs but did not convert all samples (our of more ore less 30 samples per volume about 20 have been translated). Well strange …! :?: Is that normal or are my programs just not up to date?
To avoid these problems I am considering now buying a cd rw! But as cd rw’s are expensive I am considering buying a normal cd r or if compatible even an external writable dvd (cause they cost just a little bit more than cd rw and I could use them else wise)
:?: Now my questions: which cd r or cd rw (both internal) (or even writable dvd (external)) are working correctly with my mpc 4000?
Can I solve my problem even by using up to date versions of the softwares translator or Cdxtract!
Thanks all
