Yeah i agree on the motif,,, but if the Kurzweil K2600 is from 2003, il go for that one. Kurzweil is slightly better sounding then Motif, and its synth engine is better i think

THE REASON I WHY IS BECAUSE THE MPC IT HAS VERSITILE FUCTIONALITES ALONG IT HAS A BUILT IN MIC OUT,
BUT ANOTHER PRODUCTION TOOL IS THE NEW ROLAND MV 8000

Roland Fantom S hands down...no contest. Thats even without the use of the pads on it...

i would have to say the motif es...as good as the 4000 is its always gona be hill climb up if you havent already came from a older mpc and already have sounds ready for it......i think out the box 4000 vs ES ill bust ya ass on the beats because i have 185 of sounds already loaded plus 256 user slots to created or tweak voices or elements that have come with the es and save them to a slot...pluse i also have the option to have loaded 1 gig of samples to the Es memory off the usb hardrive just in case you do start sampling some hot stuff and i have too.

That Motif ES is a Killa...puts the triton to shame...sound and sequencer wise.......Why the hell didnt yamaha implement an internal HD, CD-RW...big mistake on their part I would pay a few hundred more to have that inside it rather than using USB Drives externally.....If they added more tracks to the sequencer like over 32 and more midi outs and ins.........They would kill everything on the market cuz Yamaha has the best Rompler out stock EVER!!!! im glad more people buy the Triton cuz i hate hearing all the same sounds on tracks from different producers.......If you use your 4000 wisely you'd be taking advantage of that sampler in it by Creating hot sounding parts from your midi modules , then sampling each track in the 4k and twisting them all kinds of ways....Filters, pitch chopping up note by note, FX, resampling at lower bit rates etc etc....I have been doing that lately instead of just midi'ing things up and recording it into DP and been having fun plus its helping me make hot kits and sounds i can sell later on down the road as sample CD's.......I just built a tight ass Drumkit (actually 3) with multiple layered drum sounds at different velocities with Filters and more....it took about 11 hours but the kits are insane!!!!Have fun people!!

Yes the MPC4000 has the ability to layer up to 4 sounds on top of each other....What I did when I made my kits as programs was put one kick, snare etc etc on top of another and sometimes another and another, ...Then there are Velocity (volume sttings) 0-127 and I set each sounds Volume till it sounded exactly how I wanted..Used internal Filters to tweak and sometimes FX.....I also used the "One shot" setting on certain sounds in a layer.....For Example: I used a punchyBox kick then layered a Thick Sub808 type kick over it with the setting on "one shot" for the 808 so it would play from beginning to end even if i take my finger off the pad while the punchyBox kick will stop as soon as I take my finger off the pad.....I would also layer things like "Record Crackle" over sounds and filter and blend it in so it sound like I sampled the sound off an old record.......or I'd make snares mixed in with Claps and hats, Tambourines or just some funky noise to make it sound Ill.........It is a tedious process and alot of work.....I would also use my outboard DBX compressor/gates to add flavor and punch to certain sounds........My kits include Kicks, Snares, Percussion, FX sounds, Guitar, Basses(lots of different types), Voices (like porno chics,punches,screams etc etc).....I also made a complete collection of Kits from my SP1200 &MPC60 and sampled it all into the 4000 not to mention I also made kits from every vintage drum machine out there like the Linn9000, Oberheim, Boss Dr550 Tr808,909 and about 20 other units.Alot of these sounds you can find online if you search your ass off......It just takes lots of time putting them together..Sampling, Editing & tweaking em till they sound right. If you want to have Hot Ish to use in your production you gotta either pay for the sounds(which always have a bunch of useless crap bundled in for a high price) or Do it yourself.....I'm a producer and just want a Hot palette of sounds at all times.......I feel like maybe I spend too much time making sounds but in the end I'd rather make one Banging Track than 5 weak ones.........

I spend WAY too much time creating/polishing-up my own sounds also but I hear what you saying man and I agree. A good palette can take you into a whole other dimension. I would also rather take my time and make 1 thump-bump track than have 5-6 weak ones also. Good Point..

yeah i can probably put a few mp3's on the site of the sounds.. or my yahoo group..hadnt made any yet!!! you can go to my site and listen to some of the 2 bar loops ive made for my audio player,,i use some of the kits on those tracks.....although you wont get a full feel cuz theyre not playin solo.....www.lacasanostrarecords.com...when you hit the fast forward button on the audioplayer it plays the next track there are 9 up there....
