This is obviously a misunderstanding.
We have always stated that there are no hardware differences between the blue and white MPC4000 models.
(and this was made very clear to our dealers as well)
As shown at Winter NAMM 2004 last week, "Blue" is the new color for all Akai Professional products in 2004 (for a unified look):
MPD16, MPC1000, MPC2000XL, MPC4000, MFC42 Filter, Z4/Z8 Samplers, DPS24 Studio, EWI, HV10 and HV1 harmonizers.
The only product that changes hardware between the original and the blue version is the "HeadRush" (delay/tape echo/loop recorder pedal), but in this case, the model number also changes from "E1" to "E2".
The "new Intel CPU (StrongArm)" and "new LSI (Z96)" is indeed the original text from the introduction of the MPC4000 (only the picture has been changed to the blue model, but the text has not been changed).
There was no intent from us to imply that this was "new hardware" this year.
The OS that we were showing at NAMM on the MPC4000 was actually the pre-release version of V1.51 that fixes the "MIDI OUT FULL" and related issues when using MIDI CLOCK.
In V1.50, this issue only happens when using MIDI CLOCK, not when using MIDI TIME CODE synchronization.
V1.51 is now in beta test and if everything goes well, it should be released early February.
We are commited to the continued development and support of the MPC4000. Several new features will be added in 2004.
