aksys troubleshooting

where can i find aksys troubleshooting instructions/resources? my current aksys error message is ak.Sys ERROR: -2003,

i guess there can't be too many subfolders in a library

also, when i copy a folder from a 4000-usb-drive to mac desktop it copies most of it over and then starts dumping files outside the folder (next to the folder on the desktop)... why?

Yeah I have that problem as well... Im using Leopard. Very odd. What you need to do to prevent this is to right click the folder in akSys and chhose save to computer or something and then choose a destination folder. Now it wont duplicate those files outside the folder. In othr words: Dont drag n drop folders from aksys to mac. Only drag n drop folders from Mac to aksys. Single files are not a problem

Most errors occur when your folders or wav files have too many characters or odd characters or indeed when using too many sub folders

yes, I had more problems on mac with the character thing, so, I hooked it back up to the pc for file/sample swapping......

it just seemed too shaky on my mac

Please make a Folder and move data from the Root into a folder.

You see, I have an Intel Mac and Akai didnt took an effort to upgrade Aksys for Intel Macs. so Aksys is working as a PPC (Power PC) application. So in comparison to Windows, Apple is backwards compatible! Yes, thanks to Rosetta!

yeah, they do just work.....it's some of the software, I really don't like how akai implemented aksys on the mac, I don't even like how it looks, it's much easier and efficient for me on the pc....

Don't you love tech support? I find that they take a very long time to get back to you. Even if they are quick, there is a lot of back and forth and that is just a waste of time. In general, I try a million different things on my own and in my phone call or email I hit them with all those things so they can't come back to you with a lame answer that doesn't apply to your problem.

Sometimes you have to tell them things like what it's plugged into, what is plugged into it, what apps are running, how long you have been running your computer, what color underwear you are wearing, etc.... Just tell them everything so they won't tell you something like: "Is it plugged in?"

saintjoe, Im experiencing the opposite. I have never figured out how to alphabetically arrange the files and folder in aksys on Windows... Did you?

nope, that was one thing I liked about it on the mac, all my stuff was in order, I really don't have that much of an issue, it's just that there were certain file names I coudn't move freely on the mac, it would say wrong file or character...but it worked on the pc, I don't think it's anything to do with the mac but how aksys was coded

i've never called tech support for mac or pc.....so I wouldn't know about it

Ha, I'm glad to see this thread confirming problems I've been having for a long time with ak.sys under Mac OS X. Dragging from the MPC4000 to the Mac is a sure way to get problems. But right-clicking and SAVE TO is only slightly better; there are still plenty of problems. I also have no data files in my root directory but get plenty of problems.

I wish so much that Numark / Akai would spend just a tiny amount of manpower giving ak.sys a touch-up to fix these bugs. It affects backup of user data -- this is really an important function to have working right on a machine with a hard drive built it.
