MPC4000 Operating System Upgrade Instructions
Note: The operating system for the MPC4000 is a binary file stored in a compressed format for PC and Mac computers. You'll need a utility such as WinZip (for Windows) or MacZipIt (for Mac) to decompress the file once you've downloaded it. Please check the documentation supplied with the utility for assistance with decompressing the file.
OS Update using OS Loader
Step 1. Install USB driver to your PC.
After unzipping the files, place the USB Driver.inf and USB Driver.sys files to the same folder, e.g. Driver. Turn the PC and MPC4000 on, and connect the sampler to the PC via a USB cable. This should prompt you that the PC has found a new hardware device and requires new drivers. You should choose to specify a location for the driver, browse to the folder that contains the drivers, and press OK. The driver is now properly installed and the MPC4000 should be recognized. .
Step 2. OS update.
Double click on the OS Loader.exe icon and select the [m4cxxx.bin] OS bin file, and It will send the OS to the MPC4000.
Note: After updating, be sure to initialize the MPC4000 by pressing GLOBAL Key, then F6 [INITIAL] and F5 [DO IT], before turning it off.
Note: When restarting you may receive an error message indicating that the sampler may have been disconnected from the computer. This is normal and you can eliminate the message by pressing the OK button.
OS update procedure from removable media (CD-ROM, Zip, MO)
Note: To update the OS from CD-ROM, the MPC4000 must already have OS version V1.03 or higher installed. To update the OS from Zip or MO, the MPC4000 must already have OS version V1.10 or higher installed. You can create the OS disk by using your PC to write the "MPC4000.bin" file on to the disk, or you can obtain a disk by contacting your Akai Professional distributor.
To install the update:
1. Turn the MPC4000 on and insert the OS disk.
2. Press the LOAD button, then select MPC4000 OS file (.bin file).
3. Press F6 [DO IT], then the F6 [INSTALL] button.
4. Displayed OS Upgrade, "please wait ....." then "Upgrading of the Flash ROM was successful."
5. Press F6 [Restart] button, be sure to initialize the MPC4000 by pressing GLOBAL Key, then F6 [INITIAL] and F5 [DO IT], before turning it off.
