QUestion regarding looping of a sequence.

Basically, I want a 4000 or even the 3500, but I wanna be able to sequence like I do on the 8000 because I hate (mildly) spending 10 minutes after recording a sample and trying to find it's tempo in the 2000xl. I think this would be possible if I can adjust the sequence loop points within the MPC. I looked at the 4000 and 5000 manuals and couldn't really find it, so this is my last hope.

If I set the number of bars within a sequence to around 20 (I never even use that many though) and I lay down my samples and drum patterns however I desire, will I be able to fine tune the loop point within the sequence? So I've laid down a 8 bar sequence (remember that I've set the number of bars at 20 and I'm NOT following whatever tempo the sequence is set at), is there a way to make the sequence loop wherever I want it to loop instead of at the end of 20 bars?

The MPC 4000 does NOT have individual Track Lengths... so the Entire Sequence will have to be looped at where ever you choose.

If you set sequence to be 20 bars long. You can then go and in the "Main" window and change it to loop from the beginning of the sequence to bar 8, or you can have it start
at bar 8 and go to bar 16.

FYI.. the Users Guide is fairly useless on the 4000. The real data is in the Referene Guide. You can download it here:

So pg 6 of the Reference Guide indicates this:

Loop field
Turns looping on/off. If this field is on, pressing the [PLAY START] key will make the
sequence play back from the loop-start location.

Loop region field
Specifies the loop region in measure units. Specify the loop-start at the left of the “–”,
and the end of the loop region in the right field.

Thank you for your reply sir. If you don't mind, can I actually tell the MPC to loop within any of the 986 parts within a quarter bar?

You can have it loop between any two bars (measures) in the sequence. Remember that it is for the entire sequence, not for individual tracks. And its for entire measures, you can't pick quarter bars or 960ths. In most cases, you shouldn't need to loop any shorter than a full measure.
