MPC4000 HOOKED UP THRU PRO TOOLS

I need to know how to record from my MPC4000 into pro tools thru my inserts at the back of my M AUDIO FAST TRACK PRO. I have tried to hook up my Record player thru there too with my 1/4" to rca cords but it doesnt let me record for some reason. I have searched the board but cant find anything to help me. ANy help would be appreciated. Thanks.

does your record player have preamps like a portable?

I bought a phono preamp with it. I figured out how to get my stuff working, lol, my Fast Track Pro fooled me good. The front plug ins for the mic inputs are also 1/4" plugs too.Thanks for the response though
