I have a new 4000LE and want to upgrade it to 512mb. I can't find 256mb chips that meet the CL2 128MbitX16 requirements. Does anyone have an onling source where I can buy reliable memory? I've returned 2 sets of "Made for the Akai 4000" 256mb chips already from different vendors and I'm already up to one chip in the shipping!

Thanks a whole lot.

Please read this link

I posted a link to the link above leading to a crucial memory stick suitable for a 4k, its not the cheapest but IMO crucial are the most reliable.

thanks, shoulda archived.

newbie blues. i managed to snap one of the chips into place and it's registered, however i can't seem to get the memory slot on the far left to register no matter how many "clicks" or "snaps" i hear when seating it.

however, the right socket works fine and registers the chip that i've seated... :?:

Try taking the right one out and slightly leaning the left stick to the right or left depending on which way the meory is keyed (I cant remember) whilst pushing firmly down :) .

They are a bit of a git to seat but once down a positive connection will be made. Dont go too mad though as this may damage the mem tracks :( .
