can i midi a workstion keyboard as old as the roland w-30s to a mpc 4000

Well, if your W-30S has MIDI connectors, I'd say the chances are pretty good!

With some Googling, it seems it's a bit restricted on the controller side, but if you're only going to send and receive note data, you should be ok:
