Copy Akai cd to MPC

Hi all.

i just got MPC 4000.i know how to use it couse i read all the manual and it was very very easy.But still i have soe issues.

i want to ask you people.is there a EASY way to copy all my 200 AKAI cds to MPC harddrive?

It seems that aksys doesnt work.

I managed to copy 5 GB of drums that ihave but now i really want to fill that harddrive ).i have 72 GB free and over 200 AKAi disks wich i never used on my computer waiting for tha day i will have akai hardware.But things are not so easy with this MPC 4000. )

hehe...

two more questions.
is there a way to preview(audition) a PROGRAM?
Can i autoload a multi at startup?Like a default Multi

ahh..i alost forgot:

how the f.... can i RESET all the memory easier.when i work at something and i need to start over a new song i have to do too many steps.or i can switch off the mpc.Is there other ways?

1st. You obviously didn't read the manual, quit lying.

I was real picky with what I loaded, cause I wanted all the space I could get for saving beats, so I loaded all my favorite PGMs from Akai CD-roms one by one thru the CD drive. But copying all those from your desktop to your MPC memory/disk is easy, just drag and drop thru AkSys. But trust me, you're gonna want alot of that space back for saving beats.

2nd. Create a new folder in the first page of your disk. Hit "save", E3, and type Autoload for the folder name. Then dump your favorite all-purpose multi in there.

3rd. Hit "Program", "Sample", or "Multi", then hit "window", F4, then F3, or F2, depending on if you wanna get rid of everything, or just what your not using on the current beat.

And they said we'd be able to preview Keygroups via harddrive streaming....... that never happened.

hey man...i really cant fiind in the manual what i asked.Search "autoload" in PDF manual see whats happening.

ok...my 200 AKAIz are on CD support (akai s1000.s3000) not on my desktop computer.so how can i copy them to harddrive?

any1 can tell me how to fix aksys to work properly under leopard?

i put an akai cd in mpc drive and i see it in aksys.when i try to select and drag them to a folder of MPC in aksys i ALWAYS got the same error.

i can even drag files stored on the MPC harddrive from one folder to another.whats wrong with aksys? i have the latest version 2.61 and the os of my mpc 1.71.

i managed to copy a lot of single shots samples i have but with the akai disks it is a pain in the ass.

the only way i see to cpy AKAI disks to MPC is to load the directory in memory and save them on the MPC in one folder.

it not so good since i have only 272 RAM and a cd is over 500 si i have a lot of wirk to do to transfer AKAI disks (s100/s3000)

I know this has been discussed before, and I could have sworn that you could copy folders from the CD-ROM through ak.sys. I tried to do this recently in Windows with an AKAI format CD and cannot drag ANYTHING from the CD-ROM to anywhere other than the MPC's RAM as Sorrell is saying. That method would be quite a pain, plus you lose folder structure.

With a normal data CD-ROM I am able to copy to the computers drive with no problems but can still not drag to the MPC's drive. Audio CDs obviously need to be sampled, so no there is no functionality with those at all.

I must have done this in the past with Extreme Sample Converter. The program is great for reading Akai disks as well as many other sample libraries and converting them to S5k/Z4 format. For regular CD-ROMs, you shouldn't need any special software. My workflow is to keep the MPC's folder structure on the PC, then transfer changes over through ak.sys (and vice versa for changes on the MPC). This way I have a solid backup at all times. This is also good for when you want to reorganize folders since they forgot to include a simple move or cut/paste in the MPC's file tools.

Anyone ever figure this out? I too can only drag folders to the memory in aksys....isn't there an easier way?

I have a western digital 500gb external hard drive. I drag and drop from my computer with no problems and hook it up to the 4K I've had it two years and it still works great, you just need to make sure its FAT32. Buy two if you can so you can back up everything. Also, They don't need to be 500gb, they were on sale when I got them.

They were talking about dragging/copying a CD Rom not dragging from a hard drive.
The only way you can do a CD Rom is to use some other program like CD Extract or Translator to get it to a hard drive first.
