PLEASE HELP - akai mpc 4000 - aksys problem?

hey whats up guys,
does anyone here use aksys to transfer data between there mpc and mac with an mpc 4000?
i started doing it as of last night instead of using an external hd. ive downloaded aksys and have hooked it up right and i tried transferring data between my mpc and mac but as i start trasnferring something aksys shuts down like it lost a connection. it does this every time, has this happened to anyone? when i try loading beats off my external hd through my usb cable it does this same thing. this is really really frustrating

p.s - should i try reloading the op sys 1.71?

Check the characters and the file extention

This is a heavily debated issue on here with aksys and Im sure you wouldve found a bunch of useful threads with various solutions if you'd done a search first

Eitherway, what solved the problem for me was simply, using OS 1.71 to do a full reformat on the internal 4000 HD. It took me days and days cause I had to backup all the stuff from the internal HD to the computer first and you know what happens... aksys crashes. But it was totally worth it. Now aksys might crash once in a while, but now I can transfer gb's of data usually without a problem. So reformat the HD using OS 1.71. But backup your shit up first...

Oh and also, dont use a usb hub, connect the 4000 directly to your computer.

It might be simple but make sure you always highlight the memory icon on the mpc within the aksys. Not stating the obvious but I seen to happen many times. Good and yeah try the suggestions given above.

reformating drive solved same problem for me too.
