tips on layering using the 4k ,how can i assign to kicks onto 1 pad for layeringalso pitch shifting a snare fovr that southern roll?

use zones or keygroups dude, it´s easy
zones up to 4 layers (basic)
keygroups if u want more layers and separate editing of filters, mod, etc per layer (advanced)
what do u want to do with that snare? a snare roll can´t be done with pitch, just quantize at 1/32 or 1/64 or set a short loop in your snare sample... You can also use a snare roll sample, there are tons of them out there...

For snare rolls I like to use the Q link slider for more control over the sound.

On the XL, I would often use the pitch envelope with velocity so that harder pad presses would slightly modify the snare's pitch. On the 4k, you would just need to map velocity to pitch in the modulation matrix for that pad. You usually want to keep it subtle, or it sounds weird.

Or keep it simple and make as many kits and drum programs as you wish and assign them to the two out1 and out 2 on each track. Or assign the track to INT A or B and go to multi and assign
the different drum programs to the same midi channel.

Keygroups is easy too as well you have a number of options with any as you can shape the envelopes separately, assign different filter types, and different program modulations if you wish.
