cd-rom drive for mpc4000

my cd-rom drive...is dead....i must replace it with a specifical unit that works with the 4000 or every cd-rom works?

id like to know also... is there another brand i can use like a uneversal cdrw from a pc? jw cuz i have a spare one in my old comp readily availible.. thanks in advance..

Unless there's firmware to be aware of, basically any IDE cdrw or even a dvd-rw will work.

Plextor plexwriter seems to be one of the best drives to go with, but I guess you can use whatever you want.
