The best way to legally clear samples??

I've recently finished an album with a ton of samples on it. Some are samples from old records, some are from TV and film. I know I got my work cut out for me but it's an experience I need to go through. Does anybody have any idea on how best to legally clear samples on songs?

I'm definately looking to clear everything if I can and I really don't wanna release anything without sample clearance. It might cost me in the short term but it's far better than paying the price later on in my opinion.

you need permission from the publisher .....and.... the actual audio recording master owner



I've licensed tracks thru harry fox but never cleared samples with hopkins (above)


you can find some of the names doing a search at harry fox agency site, but they just offer mechanical licenses. easier, because permission is not needed for those where as you actually need permission

again, you can find some names to contact from harry fox but will have to go further for what your trying to do.

true. thats a way how it is more difficult for people to recognize where your samples are from (thou its not impossible).
but what if you want to preserve the vibe of the original (melody or rhythmic vibe)?
