I'm dropping an EP with my partner in rhymes somewhere in the beginning of 2012.
At the moment somebody is building us an website and designing a logo.
I shopped around with some demo's and got a few important people behind us.
Go to hiphop party's, and being seen with people who are already 'there'. They introduce me to other people in the scene.
We also did a few small perfomances and people are starting to notice us.
Of course we hang out and perform at places where 'our' type of audience come to chill. That's what we really looked for. What type of hiphop fans will listen to our music. And where can we get in touch with those fans.
And we really wrote a plan for this:
- Finding your audience and scene
- Built a network; DJ's (radio and club), MC's (spitting and hosting), even theatre groups who want to volunteer with making video's.
- Become part of the scene. Make sure all those people described above just see you as an artist whose visiting all the events and party's.
- Work on your fanbase.
- (Social) media. We'll launch a site, linked with FB, twitter, links to soundcloud etc.
- Other promotional stuff. Shirts and stuff and other things to draw attention (bumrushing).
- Looking for events and locations to throw gigs or perform. Or find people who can help with getting shows.
And this is all besides the other productional planning. (Licensing, making the album, looking how to make copy's etc.)
