Advice needed: Gaining exposure

In todays industry...how should a rapper go about gaining ezposure for one's self? demos? mixtapes? straight to the labels or radio stations? agents or managers?

any input is appreciated

i think the best road to take nowadays, is to start a movement in the streets. If you sellin ish on your own, in the streets, the majors will come to you.

But, im still struggling, so maybe thats bad advice homie

It depends what you wanna accomplish. Indie or Comercial. Comercial is all about playing the game. It can have quick results but less longevetti. The independent road is a long one but more freedom. If you wanna be on the radio than make what the radio wants. If you doin it indie style. Shows, shows, shows, tour, tour, tour...

get in good with the peeps at the radio station. they usually have contests and shit like that.

I thought you needed a raincoat, some pants legs, and a couple of rubber bands.....

I take it to the streets. I hit up house partys and shows, if they are 21+, i just hit people up with my cd's. Just beat tapes and CD's.. Let them here and if they dig give it to them and come to me for more or just give it to them for like 4 or 5 bucks. Depends how i feel.
