Talk about the music biz - marketing, promotions, contract law, copyright etc...

Not really a 2500 question just a Q to the producers . If you think you've made a top quality track what do you do with it?
If you put the instrumental on myspace it has the risk of being stolen like the issue with Timberland and some other producer last year.

I don't know any good mc's I could work with to finalize the track and don't want to go sending it around the place either.

I've been chopping and rearranging this track for about a year and have a had a lot of positive feedback.

what are peoples opinions on this?

Send it to me and I'll let you know what to do with it. Really, though. There's gonna be some sort of risk or sacrifice no matter what you do with it. If you put up the track online, you risk it being stolen or reproduced. If you don't shop it around, what's the point of a sick beat if nobody will ever get to hear it.

I feel u so much... back then i used to do sampling a lot... and i often ended up wishing The Abstract could rhyme over them mahahahah...

but i tolly feel u... sometimes u make a beat and u have a whole concept for it.. liek u know u even see the video with kanye in it...

Basically i guess if u have that talent... and u try to make a couple of bangers... refine UR formula.. make a demo cd... protect it with acapellas or horns wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnw... and find someone on this forum who's ready to give u some opportunities to pass it to some cat.. it can work out for u.. but yeah.. pretty rough huh..

[email protected].. add me if ur into some kind of dilemma, i was stolen 3 beats ... (but that was when i thought they were whack)

copyright the beat first. Then, promote it effectively using myspace, soundclick, etc. There are a zillion ways to network using the internet. Go to some open mic shows and try to find you some artists. It's hard to get in the game if all you do is make beats....you need an artist to use them or an A&R to hear them. But the possiblities are endless. Youv'e got to be as creative to market your music as you do to create it...if not more!

As the rsonist from the heatmakerz said 'it's not gonna do you any good just sittin on your harddrive'. I take that advice whenever I make a beat. I tag it and if it's original copyright it, if not I attempt to clear it.
