u know , as much as i love my sandisk sansa, ipod, and zune, lol, i do miss those days of walking around my old neighborhood with my walkman and a pocket full of cassettes. hardly any bought ones though, nothin but my blend tapes. damn those were the days. i can still feel the vibration of the motor in the walkman when the batteries would be dying..

REEE.......ERR ..........REE............ERR...REE...............ERRRRRRRR

GOOD TIMES GOOD TIMES !

I used to have a backpack full of tapes and it used to make a bunch of noise. I thought I was in heaven when I saw they were coming out with the digital tape walkman with the hands free side a to side b feature. Then 4yrs later the cd player shit all over that.

the concept behind it is solid ... my kenwood car cd player has a sd and a USB slot,
BUT if the RIAA is so worred about copyright infringement/illegal downloads and such
why make it so much easier for people to swap files/music ..
and why not on a USB drive? sd cards are tiny and easily lost, usb drives are a bit tougher
for the application.

imho this is an attempt to tap into the new technology to drive album sales
and im sure people are buying those up for the holiday season ...

there are a few advantages to having a true digital copy of an album (not a cd)

  • never scratch the media.
  • store more media on a smaller device saving space.
  • store video on a sd/usb drive for ease of swapping media in a mobile environment without having to change a cd.
  • easily share/swap songs with friends (but this was easy anyway with cd's).
  • environmentally a sd/usb card uses less material to produce than cd's.
  • when mobile on ruff roads; no skips, jumps in the media thats playing.
(very usefull in Oklahoma we have the 5th worst roads in the U.S.A)

yeah it was shortlived. but one thing i really enjoyed on those minidiscs were the slick little remote controls that came with it
