I want to hear what the people actually being sampled think?!
Id bet to say that they actually want to be sampled so they can make money!
Think about this: Producer x samples track 3 on the B side of some 1970 album. Producer x uses that sample, makes a hot single, then that track goes platinum.
How much $$ do you think is involved with a track that goes platinum? how much money do you think the original artist made on that B side track back in the day?
The artist that was sampled probably made decent money in his day-but who knows, that is questionable. maybe he made nothing because he was a no name, maybe he made millions, maybe he was just average............then you also gotta think about what position the sampled artist is in now. He might be broke cause he was a one hit wonder. He might have not made shit on any of his albums because the record companies screwed him to begin with. he could be a no name. he could be moderately successfull still, he could be michael jackson, he could be an old church choir conductor, he could be an old rocker who is now a soccer dad.
Plus! The actual artist might not even own any of his copyright because it belongs to the record label! ANy way around it, the mother **** who was sampled wants his money.
