The big disadvantage to the online beat selling sites is..... they have thousands of producers selling on them& to the same traffic base, making competition damn fierce, add to that the fact that certain genre's do better on those sites and some next to nothing :(

 Having your own little beat store that you can literally post in front of the noses of the people who might be into your genre/style and the ability to do it without thousands of other producers distracting the artists from your stuff,
is worth a shot,

 Hmmmm....maybe you specialize in some boom bap that doesn't get it in on the big sites, so then make your own little beat store, find the right artists and give your link to em, your target peeps

seems cool for any beat maker/ producers even remotely interested in beat selling online

free 30 days to play with it too

http://www.myflashstore.net

your own mobile online beat store looks like an itunes store if ya want it to.

as low as 5 bucks a month, you can post on ya site, on myspace, now syncs as app with facebook too

you can embed it too pretty much any site or do a link, get payed direct to paypal can do non exclusive or exclusive

5 bucks gets 10 beat slots

my example link http://www.myflashstore.net/flash/istore.swf?user_id=229

seems pretty cool worth trying out

Thanks for posting this BG!
Looks like an easy way to get started shopping mp3's. I'm definetly capable so I figure I will give it a go.
I have a couple of questions for you though.

Do you sell the mp3 mastered or it's best to give a mix level mp3 with some headroom?

Did you ever sell a beat non exlusive and then someone wanted to buy it exclusively? This would mean you couldn't right?

I use to sell exclusive beats to local artists in person bundled with a 4 hours studio block but quickly realized it was a waste of a beat (selling one time with 100 buck studio block) because unless the artist was actually gonna really grind hard with it, it was dead after that sale and the contract basically sealed it's fate.

now online mp3's non exclusive, great sell beats as a producer as if they are your own songs just mark the price up 10 to 50 bucks and sell em along with "permission" for them to add vocals and redistribute it only with vocals added and with your site url/name as the beat source. (it is kinda like a altered mechanical license)
I have a "stop sign" pic (says please read) right above the beat store on my site so clients can read the terms prior to purchasing an mp3.

Technically, beats where the master peaks at -3b or -4db would be better to record/add the vocals to but artists as does the public tend to respond better to loudness" so it's a catch 22 on that one.

I offer my clients mixing and services /help if needed and being that I have the tracked out versions of my for sale beats, i can easily get a better mix/master result for them than they will from the loud mp3 download.

but they choose to not utilize the service and just get the mp3, that is ok by me

my "agrrement" tells them to list the beat source as "BGBEATS.COM" not a producer credit, because i don't want to get the blame for a poor final song outcome unless i'm the one that actually produced the final product.

I have seen people offer beats previously sold no exclusive as exclusives so they do do it,.

I list the exclusive price as 3,500 ( what I would expect from a placement)

though I even market/advertise exclusive though if somethinat happened I would just hit up the previous buyers with free beat replacements but unless they even actually released it, it would be no different than a person using an industry beat on a mixtape.

I don't expect that to happen but if it does, that's the plan but not even dwelling on it

Exactly what I'm thinking.

as far as the beats question, I use to sell cheap exclusive beats in person before setting up online & found out that artists would buy mp3 beats non exclusive , but have not pursued exclusive sales online.

my goal for mp3 beats is to try to sell 10 a day consistently (even if same 1 beat sells 10 times )

sales tend to be spiratic but collecting opt in e-mail subscribers better chance of conversion later on down the line
