I'm not really positive but I think a law was passed about 5-6 yrs ago making the "poor man's copyright", as its called, no longer admissible in court.
The "poor man's copyright" was a cheap way for musicians to copyright their material without sending it to D.C. You would mail a copy of the finished work to yourself and then put the "UN"opened package in a safe place. By not breaking the seal on the package was a way to determine when the package was sent( all packages, letters have a time/date stamp on them) So if someone ever tried to use your material you could bring in the package to court, have the Judge opened it and determine if it was used......

I'm not sure if that method was ever viable in court, actually. But I will let you know something very ironic about our digital age: a lawyer we know informed us that there is a "digital stamp" made on everything you save to a hard drive...like recorded tracks. This stamp indicates the exact time and date, of course, but it is also viable in court. There are some minor formalities, such as whether or not the hard drive was legitimately purchased, that kind of thing, but tracks, or lyrics, can stand up in court as proof of ownership.
I know someone might say, "well couldn't some smart-ass duplicate the stamp"? Not if the hard drive was legitimately purchased, especially with a registered warranty. The company that made the drive then has further proof of who owns the drive and its contents with that stamp.

Plus most of my shit is already copyrighted, I'm just looking for a better soulution because funds are low.
and you can't EQ the voice tag out... because I put one voice tag on each channle so no mattter what you'll still hear the voice tag, even if you EQ it out so just drums play you'll still hear the voice.

aight girls enough flirting. go hit the pms if ur gonna hook up. But that sendin ur shi* through the mail will not work. they used to do it, but they stopped it a while ago. u need to just send out ur cd with some form u can get at ur courthouse or online. search yahoo for copyright. its like 30 bucks and how ever many tracks u can get on the cd i htink.

The only problem with this is, if you have multiple beats on 1 cd, under 1 copyright name and you sell a beat to someone in the biz, your also granting them useage of any the other beats on that cd at no additional charge....Check the rules of copyrighting
