interpolation/sampling???

Whats the difference? Ive read credits that said it was interpolated, when you can tell it was "sampled". thanks.

An interpolation is a replaying or restructuring of a known body of work as opposed to just using the original track. For example, if you had a bass player come into your studio and play the bass line to a James Brown track it would be an interpolation not a sample.
