well...we made a couple dollars...but not much.
this is not what you want when u make beats.
but, when u don't know the MC and he don't got that much skillz and he wants a customized beat....Maybe that's the time to make a couple of bucks.

I made $300 off a 10min beat that I didn't even like. More important than that, I built a relationship. Dude I sold the beat to is pretty well known and industry connected (think hip hop's "Big Three).

I know alot of people talk 'bout doin it for the love. I was too, until my name got a little buzz and ev'rybody and they mama wanted free shit.

I feel like this: My equipment costs money, my time is money, my rent is due monthly, and my landlord ain't lettin me stay here 'for the love'.

I believe all investments of time and/or money should reap rewards.

I started to make beats for funn cause i was bored.... Eventually people got word that I made beats.. next thing I knew I was getting a lot of calls for beats. Truth be told.. I give a lot of them away (cause I do it for fun) but I sell them to the people I dont really like. I have made about $600 all together on beats sold. I have given away over 50 beats.

Y'know..I started makin' beats in my cheesy Yamaha keyboard wayback, but til now...I passed from 2 MPCs,i studied sound engineering & music technology and i'm spendin' many bucks for diggin' records, sample cds, breaks etc.
I think that it was about time to earn some sh!t from my beats..Don't say "payment" say "a bigger motive".If i was still listening to my 900 (approx.) beats from my MP's HD,i'd feel lonely..
I'm happy that people can buy one/some of my beats, spit their sh!t and see them happy or even make bucjs.I'm feeling that i gain recognition and that's important if you don't want to keep music for youself..
Believe me,i got many songs that are made just from/for my soul.

I've sold a few here and there...like my man said, if they ain't all that, sure I'll fleece 'em a lil bit. Right now though, since I'm making decent dough at the job, I'm concentrating on developing artists on my roster that's down for the team. I like it cause it's more fun, I have some creative control and it's way more productive working with tha fam....ideas just start bouncing off the walls, ya know?

Not that I wouldn't slang a beat, mind you....I'm just not there tright now. 8)
