Yo I'm thinkin bout coppin about 8 tracks/beats from somebody. BUT, dude dont have no contract. So I'm wondering if anybody has one that I can use?

I saw one contract in this part of the forum but I think it is all wrong for what we're doing. He's just selling me the beats and that's it.

Also I'm wondering how would I handle this if dude is in another state. I wanna make sure dude is not under age and he's not jacking someone's intellectual rights.

So I figured when I thro him the contract he has to have it signed by a notary. But still even then there are no guarantees.

How should I handle this?

thats a rough one.....

See I've known (lets say close associates of mine) to sell the same beat over and over...(not a bad hustle really)

So, you and 20 other MCs paid $500 each for the same beat

A contract is just a piece of paper that will give you evidence ONCE YOU GET TO COURT (no $$ for a lawyer you say, I say (i mean my associates say) you're fuked)

It will not save you from getting done (especially if you aint got the $$ for legal fees)

If he's using samples there is a whole other set of problems.......

Here's my advice:

If the beats he got for you will help further your career come to a good price and buy em. Record, mix, master and get your name out through all the available avenues you got.

I know this forum is usually the Kanye hater club BUT.....

before his album came out he was selling bootlegs of the shit at various college appearences.....

WHY YOU ASK??????

Its not about sales its about exposure

So if spending this money will improve on what you already got and help you get more exposure...go for it (provided the $$ is right)
