Aight, kiddies, I got a prob that Google can't seem to help me with.

To make a recording belong to you you need to

a) copyright the song
b) copyright the actual recording
c) publish the song

I got a and b on lock, but I cant find anything anywhere that explains how I publish my song (officially), ie:

"All beats by Ant for Ant Turn That Snare Down(ASCAP)
All raps by Slug for Upside Down Heart Music(ASCAP) except for "Flesh" which features Raps by I Self Devine (Micronauts) for The Emporer And The Terrorist(BMI)
"

So my ? is, how so I register with BMI or ASCAP and make my PUBLISHING official?

Holla back,
Peace1

BMI and ASCAP arn't persay publishers but royalty collection agencys you can file your publishing compay under them but they won't shop your stuff and put it in peoples hands. I'm with BMI have been for almost ten years.

So how do you "officially" publish a song. Publishing a song gives you the rights to it, correct? So how do I make sure that I'm the one that gets the credit as a songs publisher? Anyone?

Here's one that I use: Harry Fox Agency at http://www.harryfox.com/index.jsp
Another one is
Warner Chappell Music at http://www.warnerchappell.com/
Look into one of these above and contact one and ask all your publishing questions. the take what you heard from them and find others and ask the same questions. when you find one that you like after comparing all of them sign up and start getting paid.

And here are just some interesting sites for this

Music Publisher's Association - http://www.mpa.org/
