What do you all think about the Christian Hip-Hop scene? Do you think it needs some better producers or better Artists?

They have this site called HolyHipHop.com , it's pretty tight! Like I begin with, if they had some tighter concepts, it would be all good. There is more to life than Church, weed, and women; but you have to have Jesus..you can live without weed and $$$, but you need a foundation. I think the Christian Hip-Hop scene will get bigger with time..

Mars ill....they ain't preachy and they have skills....I have seen a few videos on this so called "Christian Hiphop".....fools got skills all the way around....


but why can't they just forget the label????

If you're dope with yours, what you speak on doesn't matter because the skills will shine through...

half the beats i've sold were to Christian rappers
they really need quality production.
i try to price my stuff to make sure they'll have enough money to get the track professionally mixed and mastered.
if the music sucks so no one wants to listen to it, no matter how good the message but if the music and production is on point people wont care about the lyrics.
yall remeber "Stomp" by Kirk Franklin and God's Property
the reason why that song did so well was that Kirk got Rodney Jerkins to produce it.

Similar to what's said above, it's free expression man, do your thing!! I've heard some christian rap, that sh*t is cool. It can't be any worse than top 40 radio these days, and the message is way better than that. Just let it be what it is...music....creative lyrical expression...forget the politics.

My only reservation with anything that identifies itself on a religious basis is trying to force a message down someone's throat. Positivity can be expressed without being overbearing. I know some dudes that went sober and was doing bible study and all that. Only problem: IT WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH. They were expected to go out and recruit more people for the cause or they would not longer be welcome at their church. I would call that exploitation, as long as you leave that out, I'll hear a cat out and consider what's been said.

I think its understood between christian artists that the whole point of "christian rap" is to glorify God, and to witness to the unsaved- So its really actually impossible to just settle for JUST being positive, and consider the music God glorifying- The word either drives one away, or it draws them near, thats why it cant be diluted by trying to please two crowds- As a christian myself, i found years ago that i cannot cater to both parties, youre either gonna appreciate the music i produce (for rappers, singers) because its for the Lord, or you arent gonna REALLY wanna hear it because it just doesnt speak to you- but unfortunately on a side note, i dont particularly care for a lotta christian rap- as opposed to singing over a beat- singing just speaks much more to me, when its for God of course (coming from a strong background in hip hop)- i always went more for a Portishead, Esthero, Sneaker Pimps, Bjork, Massive Attack kinda sound-

theres a christian rap group call CROSS-MOVEMENT that were pretty dope a few years back... the dude from there called THE AMBASSADOR had a pretty nice solo album...

The Cross Movement camp is tight. They have MC's that are nice on the mic. Their production sounds the same on each record and each artist. They need other producers to spice it up a bit. They are real with the ministry though.

You see folks, us saved cats like beats and rhymes. We just don't buy into the negative, foul, sinister lyrics that's out there today. The problem is, which goes back to the question that started this post, most of the Christian Hip Hop that I hear is wack.

But we about to change that.

The last statement was Tru..Ppl hate the positive because it's in our nature to do evil, just like it's natural for a fish to swim or a bird to fly.. Everything that's wrong for me feel sooo good But I know that the Church always has a crowd and funds to support thier ministry world-wide..But most producers would be called hypocrytical for doing that style of music.. I just see it as another section of life..One day I think I'm 2Pac, the next I'm on the Jesus tip, the next I'm all lovely dovey with the misses..I know I aint the only one who changes with the weather.. I hear it in my beats too...It's all good though..This is the LIFE
