if you did the BMI online app, make sure you print 2 copies of the written agreement, sign them in the proper place, and mail them out, once you get accepted as a writer(s) member, go ahead and go to your local town clerk office and register your publishing name , and open it as a business, once you do that, then do the BMI Publishers App, so you could start recieving royalities once your music gets aired.
Ascap is harder to join, becuase they reqiure 1 of these: a copyright, an album that states that you wrote the song, and some radio play.
The easiest way to do Ascap, is 2 do a Copyright PA form, send it to congress, and make sure you get a return reciept, is a green piece of paper stating that congress receive your copyright form, send the slip with your ASCAP writers app, i hope that helps, i encourage guys to go with BMI, if you dont have no written songs under your belt and a copyright, i got elected into ASCAP in 1998, and it took me almost a year to get elected, becuase of the guidelines that i stated above, hope that helps.
