Clearing Samples

Has anyone cleared any samples lately? Is this absolutely necessary? It seem like a lot of trouble to go through just to use a few seconds of a song. I'm using an old al green track, and a Gladys Night track.

Unless you are selling beats and moving 200+ units, chances are you won't have any problems with sample clearance. Changing pitch or chopping does nothing in protecting you since you are sampling the recording which is protected under current Copywright law in which most cases the Copywrite and Publishing is owned by the Record Companies.

If you are not making any money of the sale of a beat you can simply say it is for educational purposes which is covered under a different section of the copywrite law. I am no lawyer so if you have any question or doubts GO GET A LAWYER! werd up!
