Who has somebody shopping their beats for them?

How did you find him/her?

What sort of things do they demand from you?

What do they say about samples?

Any info on being a publisher/production manager would be nice

Until you get a name, no one will be interested in shopping for you unless they really believe in you- but be prepared most will ask for 15%.

Go to local Music Conferences and beat battles, you will find ppl like that there. Try to work with someone locally if you can.

Musically most managers (beat) or otherwise entertainment attorneys are in the loop and most solicitors will be looking for a "certain" sound, usually what is currently "hot" or spinning... You can always go the Sync License route and shop your music to video producers/ contact the music supervisor over films, movies, commercials etc.. there is good money there too.

Samples are usually cleared by labels, and unless you are ultra big or already cleared a sample "typically" it is a no no.. ppl would rather not pay $$ to clear AND share royalities..

I am my own Publishing company.. it's easy. ASCAP offers publisher accounts, I have writer/publisher and musician accounts.

Grind Grind Grind, make a name for yourself and after enough ppl have heard you, they will be LOOKING for you... as always a good venue/city helps, but you can make a name w/o being in larger cities, just make relationships happen! Offer Dinner/Lunch.. ppl will tend not to forget you, ... I should not have told that trivial worthy secret.. but most still won't do it anyway. :)
