Whats up everyone im Wes Im From Chicago, Im 22 and ive been making music for about 2 yrs now( only a few months on the MPC).
I Keep reading all these great threads about copyrighting and Contracts.
How would i go about it if some local artists wants one of my sampled beats. There willling to pay me, but i dont wanna sell them the beat ,and then out of nowhere they blow up with my track i produced and i dont get half of what i shouldve gotten? Any info is appreciated..

you could write up a contract accordingly, and have them sign it before you sell the beat. (make sure you include a sample clearance clause)

determine who would be responsible for clearing the sample - then state that in the contract.

include a claus saying if they sell 1000 odd albums then your fee goes up for the beat, and another saying if they go nowhere sales/caree wise after say 3/4 years you can re sell the beat to another mc, lol dont let your talent go to deadbeats
