The biggest hard drive I have seen myself is 80gb but inside my 2500 i have a 30gb and i have many sounds inside and i still have a lot of room left. So at least 80gb

If you're going to gig your MPC, get a really, really good case.

There's an excellent post about installing a solid state HD in the MPC 1000 forum. It's not exactly a SSD, but a CF to IDE converter (which looks to be pretty sweet). The original poster was using a 4GB CF card which isn't a ton of space, but pop a 32GB card in there and you should be set until larger format cards come out.

I installed a 160Gb HD (too much?-yes, but I got it for free from a buddy+ with that extra space I can do my taxes on it :) and it recognizes 149GB.
