It's not and I've not heard of this problem before, but then, I've never used the free version.

Regarding swing: the swing has to do with a combination of things, not just the swing and quantize settings. You have to master your usage of velocity (ie 16 levels) and your usage of Clock Shift when quantizing. Swing doesnt sound that great when everything is programmed at FULL LEVEL. It is not possible to master the MPC in a few days nor a few weeks for that matter. It actually will take you a few dedicated years.

I appreciate that. Can you tell me more about clock shift? I'd like to utilise the quantise more.

I just seem to use the natural groove of my playing for quantise now- meaning I do not use shuffle etc at all.
(seems slightly ironic considering I bought the MPC for the quantise and shuffle features!)

The MPC shuffle/groove is a myth in my opinion. With no quantize setting, the MPC is still quantizing your music to 96PPQN. The Clock shift allows you to shift the notes forward or backwards in increments based on your quantize setting. This will help you to get a lazier or progressive groove depending on which way you shift your notes. The best way to groove is with no quantize value however, thats where the money is.

I did a simple 4 chord sample, it remembers the chops, then I tried a few drum loops, spent ages zooming in, getting just right; but when I create a program out of them the samples are being split incorrectly...anyone know why?
(when in Trim mode, it has all the individual chopped samples, (incorrectly sliced...brrr!)

having to wait for my paypal before upgrading to xl but if this is a sign of things to come..??

Try to reinstall the jjos and make sure ur doing everything correctly. At first I thought my mpc was bugging out as well, but later I found out I didn't know what I was doing exactly. Take some time to get to know the machine and the JJOS properly.
