The mod is OK, but them **** beats are crazy! You've got some great talent homie! What's with the drum kit in the 2nd video? Are real drums or electric?

DAMN!!! Beats are crazy but, what I want to know is how did you get your 2500 so shiny? The mod is cool but, I never place my finger in the dimple anyway. I always grip and spin. Good mod though.

your mod is ok, but i think the encoder base is is the main reason for the cheap feeling of it. some pic's if you haven't already seen: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=111328&hilit=why+the+worst+data+wheel&start=75

What makes you think this "pressure" on the ring is the main cause for the wheel failing?

I think this is the least problem with that jog wheel, and is rather a problem with the 2000 and 2000XL models, which just use a small flimsy pot in comparison to the 2500 wheel. And I don't think your solution will cause it to wear out less quickly, because I assume the main wear is in the contacts you hear as clicking...and that you will change with no mod other then installing a completely other part with better specs.

I was more talking about the reliability...2000XL encoders might have a nice feeling, but are known for failing after a while as well. And I'm always afraid the jog wheel might break off when packing it up for a move or something...those things are really fragile.

Well , all data wheels do have a finger indent which makes u cause uneven pressure on the data wheel no matter how u use it ....my 2000 never wore out as quickly as this 2500, I never had to change the 2000 ....i also own an xl and have never had to change the encoder .....but now that I v had this mod for a good 6 months with a new encoder .....I havent had any problems ....we will see in a year how things will pan out hhahahaahh also if you take off your xl data wheel ...it is built totally different.. there is no uneven pressure on the xl because of the skinny attachment the data wheel has to the actual encoder .
