Yep, apparently they read the forums, but only the sections they like

Talking about more CPU power/RAM/OS memory would be great! JJ could do even more crazy things with it! But Akai propably releases next an MPD 18 bag + iPad synth so goodbye new MPC´s!

I went into the store to get the 2500. So I purchased it. Took it home without even looking at the box. I was expecting the black one. I opened the box and there was the white SE version. I was gobsmacked because it had the RAM and the DVD drive included. I didn't complain.

It looks a lot nicer on my desk and I do actually like the glossy feel when I rest my wrist on the front of the MPC. I know it don't make no difference to my music ability and its no different to the standard when it comes to functionality. I'm happy though, because I wasn't expecting to get the SE when I purchased my 2500.

I think the big problem now is us hardware fanatics are a dying art. Everyone is moving to software and want USB controllers. It's easier for Akai to create the controllers, less money, less time, etc etc etc.

Lets just keep hold of our babies and continue to show the world what hardware can do. When Akai eventually stop producing the MPC's (I think they will) we can all hold on to our little bundles of love and watch them increase in value.

The kids can play with their toys but the big boys make the beats.

The number of people buying up hardware seems to be increasing. People seem to be realising that doing it all in software just doesn't sound as good without spending a great deal of time and effort compared to just firing up the original hardware and playing/recording.

well you gotta think... when you want to record a song and want it as good as possible... lets say you got some 808 drums in the track, wouldn't it be best to record your final version with the real thing? same goes with moogs, hammonds, you name it.

sometimes it isn't only about sounding best, but sounding the most authentic. I hate most of the sounds of the DX7 but shit... the one or two tracks I did use it in weren't the real thing but if I wanted to make a pro album with those tracks I would love to grab the real deal and replace the artificial DX7.

and also it is a trip taking a step back and running old school gear just for fun... I would love to have an mpc3000, s900, s1000, asr10, and any moog... just to have fun.

How about a solid OS from AKAI/Numark? Rather than spending resources on cosmetics which can be readily bought aftermarket, hire JJ back and finish the original product. Start a job, finish a job, support your customers. Business 101 anyone?

Most people are happier giving their money to JJ because the os is continually tweaked, debugged and modified to users needs. Akai just can't or won't compete with that.

The MPC2500 SE was supposed to be a recall to all 2500 owners due to the horrible look of the black mpc2500. But, you know what ? They must did it purposely... To tell the truth I don´t plan to buy the SE but I´ll definetely buy at least a white front case and the black pads someday at MPCStuff.com...

they released a new 2500.. how bout actually changing the annoying problems it has.. no 24 bit sound is a minor problem but not being able to change the ADSR of each invidual sound you have layered on one pad is something that i think could be easily fixed. just all the little shit you can work around but would rather not.

Straight up goons running akai these days.

that said the 2500 is ugly, i miss my 4k.

Why would anyone really care what Akai is doing as far as the OS if JJ is taking care of it?

If you want additional features (ADSR for each sample layer), hit him up.

While not really "official", think of Akai outsourcing the OS development of the MPC 1000 and 2500 to a 3rd party (so they can focus on other products). Akai makes money off of the hardware; JJ makes money from the software. Everyone benefits. That is Business 101.

I have been using mpc's for years, i've had em' all...60's,2000's,3000's you name it. with the JJ o.s. the 2500 is solid. i love the wav file dump over usb. ive got a 80gig hard drive, no more floppies, thank god. the dvd drive is a nice touch, you can sample right off the cd. the whloe new mpc verses old mpc debate is silly. if you're getting into the game now, get the latest gear....you're not making beats for 1988, you're making beats for 2008 and beyond..the good ole days weren't always that good

Don't have problems with that. Just formal black, no distraction. A better looking machine doesn't make my beats sound better

JJOS offers pad simmult.
