I got a used MPC 2500 the other day. The problem is that when you turn it on the CDROM spins and blinks. The screen reads "MPC 2500 16 MB Ram Installed". It stays on the screen and does not move on from there. I hit the "window" button and it reads "Insert Memory Card!!". I insert a CF and nothing happens! I have held down the "erase" button, turned the machine off/on but same thing happens all over again. It is like freakin' Ground Hog Day!!! ARRAGH!!!! Somebody please help. I opened the bottom and there is no ram stick in the slot. I have ordered a stick of ram hoping this might fix it, but I kind of doubt it will. Any information on how or what to do to get me rockin' and rollin' would be GREATLY APPRECIATED... For real!!!

Thanks!!

T.

Where did you get it from? Did you ask the previous owner about this problem, and if yes, what did he have to say?

You could try to remove all the optional stuff (CD-Rom, Hard Disk (if there is any)) and see what happens when you turn it on.

Do you have any idea what OS is installed? You could try to download the newest OS from Akai (or the free JJOS) and see if you can install it via the CF card reader.

I'm no expert, just trying to help.

take it back, silly.

if you take it apart and break it you won't be able return it.

take it back now!
