I cant sample, help!

Ive tried sampling from my cd player, ipod, and laptop and I cant get any sound into my mpc 2500. Ive read the manual and I cant figure out what Im doing wrong, please help!

external devices have to be sampled from the 'record in' port at the back.

Make sure in the sample screen you have it set to analog and not the DVD drive.
