Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

I am ASR/Triton guy..bought an MPC 2500 a few days ago. What I need to know is how to import a sample that I recorded into a track in sequence mode? I save it and assign a pad but cannot find it after doing so.

Thanks in advance!

welcome to the forums!

akai did a bad job on this: new samples are always at the end of the list.
hit mode -> pad 6 (trim) and scroll all the way to the end of the list.

it would have been way more comfortable if new samples were added to the beginning of the list, but akai choose not to listen to user suggestions.
and it seems the mpc 2500 will not get any os update anymore, even if there are some bugs and annoyances left in the latest official release 1.24

they promised continuing updates and festure additions, but all this went to the mpc 1000 which got almost all features of the 2500 with os update 2.0 and the story with the promised updates to the mpc 5000 is not done yet.

peace, jo

Thank you sir!. Interesting that they would take the most popular feature of the unit and make it difficult. That being said, howe do I find out what operating system I am currently running? And should I have an old one, how do I go about getting the new one?

THANKS!

just play around with your mpc a little - you´ll most likely not break anything...
the current os version is found by pressing mode -> pad 10 (other) and then looking through the menus.

the latest official version from akai is os 1.24 and it can be found at akaipro.com (surprise, surprise...)

also make sure that you download and read the manual addendums, because they describe functions and changes not printed in the original manual.

also,

you might want to check out JJOS after you get things figured out. JJOS is a third party OS with lots of better things. Of course, you have to pay for it, but its well worth it. If you are just learning though, akai should be fine, and you may decide later if you actually need the features JJOS offers.

if you don't wanna pay, just go to the JJOS website and download version 3.10 for free, it's better

Trying to update. Instructions say to

"Copy (drag) OS .bin file onto the CF card's ROOT DIRECTORY (ie: DO NOT PLACE IN ANY FOLDER)".

When my computer recognizes the flash in the MPC I get a box with three options (play, open folder to see files and take no action). There is no "root file" option and I cannot drag the OS.
