MPC2500SE ..what's the catch?

I'm about to finally step up from my cheap midikeyboard, and buy a MPC2500.

My local store sells MPC2500SE, and it costs less than the regular 2500 for some reason.
So what's the catch?

Where are you located that they have 2500s for sale?
It was discontinued a long time ago.
They made 3 different 2500s
1) normal 2500
2) then they made a short run of the 2500LE
3) last they made the 2500SE which seems to have been MIA in the US

All differences are pretty much cosemetic.

The SE also is the only one with a blue screen.

So if the 2500SE don't have any well-known machine faults?

The SE-version also has 128mb ram and a cd-drive (if I would buy them seperate it would cost me $158 + $250 extra).

Wow! When the 2500 first came out they gave us a rebate for free CD drive and one for free memory.
The only thing we had to buy was an internal HD but the kit was already installed in the 2500.

Best thing to do is decide which 2500 you like the appearance of if you really want to get one.

I got an MPC2500SE a few weeks ago... Great piece of kit.

A good friend has the standard MPC2500 in his studio and as far as I can tell the only real differences are that the SE comes with the Memory expansion, DVD, loopmasters CD, is white with a blue screen, and I think has an updated operating system installed (not found out how to tell what version it is yet). All the extras had been factory fitted and not simply added to a bundle by the supplier.

I too looked at getting a plain 2500 and adding the extras myself, but when I actually came to doing it I simply could not get as good a deal so went for an SE with some other bundled kit.
