question on direct record function

hi,

the sequencer plays and you can use direct record to sample directly into your sequence, but what happens when you stop direct recording, i.e. when you are done sampling?? does the sequencer stop, too? ...or can you assign the recorded sample to a free pad, while the sequence is still playing?

i don't understand it, though. it is such a mighty feature for live performances and from a technical point of view relatively easy to implement...i've seen and tried many machines and no one has such a feature...I'm sure a laptop-based software can handle this, but i don't wan't a laptop.

yea ive never used the direct record in live performance.
i dont know how that would work out but i do use it to make beats if i just want to like finish the whole beat in the mpc and not have to add stuff in pro tools.

i used direct record here.
i layed down the drum pattern and recorded with an acoustic guitar into a mixer an into the mpc

i just like having the whole beat one in the mpc so when i track out im just focusing on technical stuff an not having to be creative while im getting levels etc. just me
