Help me identify this object (Came out my MPC)

My pads have been acting and decided to open up the MPC to figure out if it were the pads or pad sensor. (looks like its the pad sensor.. ahhh)

anyways when i picked up the casing this fell out from inside.. and i'm not sure what it is.. or where it belongs. I thought maybe something to do with the faders but only one of em. It doesn't seem like much but I just like to have my shit put together right, maybe its a foreign object altogether..

Looks like the "slider" that goes under the fader.

one more question.. i bought this thing used and it looked to be in great condition but whithin a day of owning it the pad sensor is bad on it.. is that a common issue on the 2500s?

What's happening with your pads?

Have you had a look at the velocity you're getting when you hit them? You can also adjust the sensitivity of each pad to compensate for some fall off in velocity sensitivity (works to a point but can't make up for a really worn out sensor). See page 115 of the manual or have a look at mode pad 10 - other settings.

It might be worth powering the beast up with the erase button held down just to reset everything to standard settings. I always do this on used stuff just to have a starting point. Also page 115.

I had a 2500 that was built in 2006 that I bought in 2009 and apart from the first two pads being a bit down on velocity sensitivity the pads were very good overall. So I'm a bit surprised to hear that the pads are no good, although I think they are FSR (force sensitive resistor type pads) and they actually start to fail if they're not used for long periods.

I might be wrong about the FSR thing, but it's the only theory I've got as to why an MPC 2500 that is in very good condition would have crapping out pads.

Thanks MPCDawk, well i tried to mess with the velocity and reset+erase the system on boot... no luck.. it was weird.. first started with one pad not responding.. now 4 of them sometimes i hit one and two are being hit, sometimes i'll hit one 10 times and it'll only work 2 out of those times. I been using a keyboard in the meanwhile while I wait for the parts to arrive.

that is definitely your pad sensors then, replace and you should be all good. peace
