What brand hard drive do you have installed?

Curious to know what brand of hard drives you have upgraded your MPC 2500 with, or any brands you have had problems with as I am in the process of looking for a reliable hard drive.

I was looking at Western Digital as I have two external hard drives that have done me good and another internal WD 1TB inside of my iMac.

I really would like to know what people think of Seagate - I have had a frineds external go to sh*ts on him that was made by Seagate so I have strayed away....any feedback would be great - thanks.

This is the WD drive I have been considering:

EDIT: I got the hard drive in from Newegg.com and it works with the MPC for all those who are interested in knowing what internals will work with the MPC.

I put mine in so long ago, I'm not 100% sure but I think I got a Western Digital similar to what you posted. It's 149GB and formats to 120GB in the 2500. If you format on the PC using an external IDE enclosure, I believe you can use all the space.

My Seagate internals worked well on my XP computers, but the externals I have now don't instill much confidence. Some of their Free Agent drives have a 'feature' where the disk reader head is supposed to travel across the disk faster for quicker reads. In action it just makes a clicking noise that is identical to an HD death sound. If you disable power saving on the HD it doesn't click, but if that's what made it stop, it makes Seagate's claim of the click sound being a feature even more suspect.

I've got 4 WD drives in my Mac, and so far they've been great.

seagate is good, but they did have a batch of shitty 3.5" desktop drives while back. any ide hard disk will work in your mpc, but I think max mpc will see is 120GB, some claim to see more...


as for me I somehow always end up with WD in my mpc and never had problem, but youll be good with segate if you already got one
