I have an idea for a kit that would completely bypass the mpc, well with exception of your standard save/load operations,, but I think it would cost lil more than 10 quid in parts alone

haha, yeah, seriously what are you thinking? like having the internal hardrive connected simaltaniously with like a splitter to the mpc and the laptop?

yessir

Skip the HD and use the CF drive. Use the HD as a secondary backup. Just make sure you buy a fast CF.

I've been trying to do an internal USB mod on my 2000XL (has an internal HD) and MV8000 with no Luck.
Hope it's easier for you guys on the 2500.

cause i got a 500 gb drive sitting here with **** ton of samples, i gotta transfer it **** everytime i want to use a sample.

Ok, took me a long time now... being to damn bussy!
Anyway, i tested a 160GB HD (IDE Samsung) which i poped directly into the MPC and formated it. Then plugged it to my mac and the MPC even formated the 160GB correctly. So i don't know why your/OtherPeople's MPC doesn't recognize more than 130GB. However, if it doesn't then just format it with your Mac/PC, cuz as far as i could read the MPC just doesn't format more than 130GB (funny, mine does without a PC). Oh, and i use the stock firmware, not the JJ OS... maybe that's why. I also tried a Multibay case, poped in a 160GB SATA HD and plugged it into the CD-RW slot and even there it recognized the whole 160GB. Now take a 320GB IDE and a 1TB SATA and your good to go for the next 50 years LOL!

Anyway, the only thing that pisses me off too is being unable to copy with USB2.0 speed! So to be able to copy samples that way we would need something like an IDE-USB2.0 controller which gets plugged between the HD and the caddy conection. But to connect the HD per USB2.0 to the PC would only work when powering off the MPC otherwise it would get an short circuit and/or not able to mount it. So yeh, that would work, but way too much hassle! And you know being st0n3d and doing that is too much risk... LOL!
