Long HD recognizing time - Win XP.

How long does it take for hard drive to be recognized as a new drive in Windows XP via USB connection?
After tests it takes:
1) 50 seconds with MPC 2500 (160GB, formatted)
2) 57 second with MPC 1000 (120GB, smaller, formatted).

I disconnected all USB devices (besides mouse) and nothing has changed unfortunately. Recognizing a CF card takes 7 seconds in my 2500.
The same on another PC so computer doesn't matter.

I guess it has to be:
1. drive capacity - 160GB in 2500 (120 in MPC 1000)
2. something's wrong with formatting - btw - I formatted my HD via MPC.

i think thats just how long it takes because its a usb 1.1 connection. the large size of your hard drive may also have something to do with it.

i dont think anythings wrong with your formatting, its just a slower connection.

have you ever had an external hard drive? they take just as long via usb.
